Frequently Asked Questions
Who runs this site?
This isn't some corporate content farm or fake "organization" pumping out SEO-optimized garbage. This site is run by a real person who started playing hockey as an adult and went through all the same confusing, overwhelming, and exciting experiences you're about to have.
Everything here comes from personal experience—my own journey from not knowing how to stop on skates to winning a beer league championship. I've made all the mistakes, bought the wrong gear, even cut my stick way too short!
The guides, recommendations, and advice you'll find here are based on real experience, not keyword research and AI-generated fluff.
Do you use affiliate links?
Yes, this site may contain affiliate links. When you click on certain product links and make a purchase, I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.
Here's my promise: I will never recommend something just because it has a higher commission. I only link to products I've actually used, would recommend to a friend, or have thoroughly researched. If I think something is overpriced or unnecessary, I'll tell you—even if it means missing out on a commission.
The affiliate income helps cover hosting costs and the time spent creating detailed guides. But more importantly, it allows me to keep this site ad-free and focused on actually helping you.
What's the goal of this site?
Simple: to create quality content that's genuinely helpful to others who are starting their adult hockey journey, and to document what I continue to learn along the way.
When I started playing hockey, I spent hours searching for straightforward answers to basic questions. Most of what I found was either too technical (written for youth coaches), too vague (generic "buy hockey equipment" advice), or buried in forum threads from 2009.
I wanted to create the resource I wish I had when I started: honest, detailed, beginner-friendly guides that don't assume you know what "tendon guards" are or that you've been skating since you were four.
If my guides help you feel more confident walking into your first stick-and-puck session or choosing your first pair of shin guards, then I've succeeded.
What about my privacy and data?
Your data and email will never be shared, sold, or given away. Ever.
I'm not building an email list to spam you with product launches. I'm not collecting data to sell to third parties. I'm not running invasive tracking beyond basic analytics to see which pages are helpful.
If you ever provide your email (for a newsletter or updates in the future), it will be used solely to send you relevant hockey content—and you can unsubscribe anytime.
Your privacy matters. This is a hockey resource, not a data harvesting operation.
